Flashback of ELCOM Association
ELCOM is a students' association started by students of Electronics & Communication department under the guidance of Smt. Sudhadevi Malimath, HOD of E&C in the year 1999. It was started with the membership fees of Rs.100/-. The first inauguration function was held on 29th Nov 1999. Then after every year ELCOM inauguration function will be held along with welcoming freshers to the branch followed by a lecture from the chief guest.The association is funding the students and staff in conducting different activities in E&C Dept. In the same year an educational trip was organised on 5th Sept 1999 to AIR, Radio Station(FM), Hospet.
In the next year ELCOM started purchasing the famous technical journals for the students. In the year 2001 a special ELCOM association library was set up and was inaugurated by Dr. Vikranth Chafekar. He suggested that, each outgoing student has to donate one book. In the same year Anti-raging Committee was setup on 27th sept 2001, to eradicate the raging. During the year when VHDL was introduced as a new subject ELCOM provided VHDL software CD's in discount rate for the benefit of the students. On 13th Dec 2001, HOD Prof. S.L.Hakkapakki invited Sri. Prakash Shiggavi, who worked as instructor in our dept lab and later joined IDRO and he presented a seminar on " Satellite Communication".
From the year 2002 ELCOM started conducting annual fests. In October 2002 first ever fest" Zest-02 " was conducted successfully under the presidentship of Mr. Trikuteshwar Kambi. In 2004, "Ray-04" was organised & under the presidentship of Mr. Raghavendra. During this fest a booklet was released. Later in 2006 under the guidance of HOD Mr. Jagadish K Naragund a state level technical paper presentation "Spurti" was conducted successfully. In tha same year MODROBS sponsored for modernization of DSP and CCN lab.
In 2008, when Prof. M. Manojkumar became HOD, cultural fest "Sparks '08" was organized under the presidentship of Mr. Vaibhav K. In the same year HOD initiated a trend of releasing departmental magazine "Graffiti". The first issue "Graffiti '08" was released on 23rd Oct '08 by Dr. R.T.Pawadshettar during ELCOM inauguration function of the year 08-09. In 2009, for the first time ELCOM organized the intra-college technical fest "Technotron '09". This was very successful in bring out hidden talents of the students through innovative technical events.
